Leeds Fine Artists (LFA) is one of the oldest and most prestigious regional arts organisations in Yorkshire and the North of England. It was established in 1874, which incidentally was the same year that the French Impressionists held their first exhibition in Paris. This makes it one of the oldest regional arts bodies in the UK. Many national and international artists of repute have been linked to Leeds Fine Artists and that tradition continues to this day. We are proud of the high standard of work that our members produce. Presently there are over fifty exhibiting members who work in a wide variety of mediums in two and three-dimensional visual arts.
LFA seeks to encourage and promote Art and artists in the city and throughout the region and LFA’s annual exhibition is now established as one of the premier art exhibitions in the region’s calendar. LFA always strives to offer stimulating exhibitions. The work produced for the annual exhibition brings together the many styles and approaches to be found in the chosen fields of current exhibiting members.
LFA also organises other exhibitions at a variety of venues. Artists are encouraged to work together to promote their work and hold smaller group exhibitions. The diversity of exhibitions ensures that there are plenty of opportunities for the public to view the wide range of artwork. Many artists exhibit individually both locally and further afield as well as promoting excellence in the visual arts through education.
As an organisation LFA is always looking for new artist members but exhibiting membership is not granted lightly. Exhibiting Membership is by election, decided by a group of current practising artist members who look at the standard, quality, content and consistency of an applicant’s work in his or her chosen field.
Election dates for 2017: March 5th and September 24th, 10.30am for an 11 am start.
LFA publishes a monthly newsletter called Newsline that is distributed via email to LFA members and to non-members who are interested in receiving regular news about our exhibitions and other events. Subscribe to the LFA newsletter >
