The landscape of the North York Moors, the North Pennines and East Coast are the inspiration for Debbie’s work. She is interested in conveying a sense of movement and journey through the landscape, a narrative of a journey made as well as the view which makes a lasting impression on the psyche.
Resulting work takes the form of drawings in a variety of black and white media as well as larger scale pieces in a variety of media, often incorporating found materials and minerals. Mark making and drawing are the foundations of all of her work.
She has exhibited in a variety of galleries throughout the north of England and Scotland and holds regular one person shows at her studio located at Lund Gallery north of York.
Following a break to enjoy her children Debbie, together with her husband Steve has recently launched Lund Studios, a creative venue where she and invited artists teach one, two and three day masterclasses.
Debbie Loane trained at Bretton Hall College, Leeds University graduating in 1995 with a 1st in painting.
