Janet Williams
I have worked with solid form, glass, plaster, steel and wood making pieces which explore ideas of space, using etched marks and light but in the last few years work has been in two dimensional form.
Currently I make abstract expressionist paintings which kind of make themselves. I prefer to work on large canvases so it really does becomes a cerebral and physical endeavour. I literally go with the flow. I react to the last action I make. I have no plan but move the painting on until I feel I have done enough to consider it finished. I make work that has no meaning but which I hope may evoke some sense of curiosity or emotion for the viewer.
