Coal and Steel #1
Lockdown has provided time to reflect on my heritage and ancestry. From the tin miners of Cornwall who moved to the coal mines of Durham after the demise of the tin mining industry in the middle of the 19th century. This has been made all the more poignant by the news in February 2021 of the last ever coal shipment leaving the port on the river Tyne. In memory of the men of this now dead industry I produced two pictures that were shown at a LFA exhibition at the Cooper Gallery, Barnsley in 2017 and I make no apologies for showing them again.
