Ida and I met on the Swedish icebreaker Oden during a scientific research expedition in the Fram Strait during the spring of 2018. Ida was the cruise artist, funded by the Swedish Polar Research Secretariat’s artists programme, I was on the science team, but sketching when time allowed. Ishav is a joint exhibition of Ida’s watercolours and my etchings resulting from the expedition – and in my case, several previous research cruises in both the Arctic and Antarctic.
