Look Again – Artist and Muse

 

Nicholas Jagger’s response to Maurice de Sausmarez (1915-69) : “James Kirkup “

I was drawn to the idea of artist and muse, or poet and muse in the painting of the poet James Kirkup, and made a painting too big to transport, and in which I lost confidence the more it sat in the studio. I resolved to make another version including a hidden link to Maurice de Sausmarez’s work in the use of the golden section. I won’t know how it actually relates to the original work until I have a look, but then again, will probably be too afraid to visit.
