Concertina watercolour sketchbook
What a wonderful spring. As an exercise I decided to fill a concertina watercolour sketchbook (bought a while before at the Norman Ackroyd exhibition in Bretton Park and consigned to a cupboard). Each day I painted in the garden and just enjoyed a relaxing time. No onus to make a finished work of art’.
‘During the second lockdown, with all the time in the world, I felt myself to be drifting, not painting much at all! Then, this week, I suddenly started making pictures inspired by the easing of lockdown. The prospect of freedom. And it’s spring again and the birds are singing…’
